As the importance and legitimacy of the family caregiver is recognized more and more, more organizations are forming to help support them. Here are some of our favorites:
National Alliance for Caregiving
This organization provides excellent support for family caregivers.
The Alzheimer’s Association is an amazing resource for anyone dealing with a loved one with any type of dementia (not just Alzheimers Disease.) They provide many types of support, but what we like best are their numerous support groups where family members can share information and insight, and exchange emotional support.
More support for family caregivers, including tips for both local and long-distance caregivers:
Family Caregiver Alliance
Advice and advocation for family caregivers.
National Caregiving Foundation
This site contains a great "Support Kit" for those providing care for Alzheimer's patients.
National Caregivers' Library
This is a resource for a wide variety of articles on all aspects of caregiving, from self-care to specific disease information to legal issues.
